Nature’s Green

entry picture

Amongst emerald-coloured fields, where nature's dreams unfold,

Lush verdant hues paint vibrant tales, as yet untold.

There, between the mystic realm of love and life, serene,

Landscape blankets woven, composed in shades of green.

Beneath canopies of majestic leafy boughs,

I lie silently alone and casually browse

an arborous ballet; mellow breezes reanimate the scene

Plié, Entrechat, Relevé, choreographed in shades of green.

A babbling brook steps effervescently over moss-greened stone

So softly, the fertile forest floor seems never to have known

Each blade of fallow grass sways betwixt to and fro's extremes,

Gilded light prismatically refracted in refluttered green,

Acorns spring into imperial English Oaks,

Whilst regimented evergreens are gardened, bespoke.

Nature's natural colour is the essence of renewal,

The cycle of life's growth is continually perpetual.

I lay: My eyes filled with tears like glass, sharp-sharded

Whether short or long, in death my life’s discarded

Jealousy all consumes, reflecting envy's shameful sheen

My future lost, whilst Nature thrives in forever green.

A masterly piece of descriptive writing. I liked the use of the word 'arborous'. I recall Clemmie Churchill being accused by Sir Winston of arboricide, after she had given instructions for a tree to be felled in order to enhance their view from their home in Chartwell.
Thank you for an excellent poem so rich in its vocabularly.
