Not Broken, Just Outspoken

Why can’t I just be outspoken?

Why does my confidence in being who I am, make people think I’m broken?

It is true that my life has not always been kind,

But having a bad life doesn’t have to result in having a bad mind.

I take pride in what got me where I am today,

While others stare silently and listen in dismay.

Admittedly, the road I took was not always by choice,

But a troubled past should never take away someone’s voice.

To all who struggle consistently, and those who have the occasional bad day,

Never let other people dictate what you say.

It is your choice to use your voice or to sit silently to keep the peace,

But is the peace worth keeping, if your voice has to cease?

Silence is often mistaken for something else by those not able to understand a world without perpetual noise, even if that noise is often meaningless rattle.

If writing is a way to use your voice then let that be your conduit.
