I want to crack
I want the sadness that so desperately clings to my soul to seep through and dissipate.
That is the only way I'll survive; by breaking.

Kintsugi...
Have you heard of it? The beauty of brokenness in a world so deluded by images of perfection?
I heard Lenny Bruce's bit about truth, about what should be and what is, and I fully believe it.
Damage assessment and repair--that's the truth )
The imagery is in perfect focus and the sentiment is crystal clear.
A penetrating and beautiful poem.
No words wasted, a clear thought conveyed without dressing.
Intrestingly an example of the pathway to recovery many people take after breaking.
When I read the poem that won this year's national poetry award and then a concise thought such as this I readjust the merit I place on such competition. Not that I see creative art as an arena for competition, although I do believe it should be recognised in some manner.
