John Cooper Clarke marks showbiz milestone and new collection with 2024 tour

Veteran punk poet John Cooper Clarke is celebrating “50 years in showbiz” and his latest collection What with a 2024 tour. Venues include Edinburgh Queens Hall, a reunion show with very special guest Linton Kwesi Johnson at the London Palladium and three nights at Salford’s Lowry Theatre. His poem ‘I Wanna Be Yours’' recently celebrated over a billion streams in its incarnation as a hit record by the Arctic Monkeys. It was also the title of his 2020 autobiography.

Back in the day as a young punk poet JCC headlined gigs with support from acts that were soon to be superstars, including Joy Division, New Order and Duran Duran. He himself featured as special guest on many shows by the Sex Pistols, Buzzcocks and The Clash, as well as carving his own niche as a stand-up poet.

Saw him last year and he was as funny and engaging as ever. His biography is a fab read. Personality pours out of the man!

"25 years in showbiz"?
I saw him in the seventies, surly it's at least 45 years, maybe 50.
He still remains one of my favourites.
