The Cruelest Moon

entry picture

There you were again
last night
Always dressed so well
exactly the clothes I’d choose for you
precisely the right smile
My dreams aren’t long enough
the scene shoots by
too soon

You come, you go
I long for you to stay a while
but you’ll never stay for long
Your wild mind, your hungry heart
yawn and snarl
before you turn and go
leaving me alone

Back into the night
you shuffle off
If I call out loud
you might respond
but you rarely reach for me
if I beg, you’ll smile a while
but you never gift one for free

Taking to the sea again
back into the clouds of memory
I love the dreams we share
I know they'll have to sustain me
I feel so broken as I look for you
I feel so blue
under the cruelest moon…

Thanks Graham. This was written very much off-the-cuff but I quite liked how it came out, so thought I'd share.

This piece could be a melange of things, dreams, the moon, a woman? It's very cleverly woven too!
