Flatpack

It looks like a toy, my flatpack of war;

I picked it up at the D-I-Y store,

But don’t be deceived and be in no doubt,

This purchase will lead to a proper rout.

It shoots from the front, it shoots from the back,

It turns our defences into attack.

It costs next to nothing this side of town;

Once it’s assembled, the bombs will rain down.

Pitilessly, no prisoners taken,

Cities at nighttime it will awaken,

And with small adjustments it can manage

Mass carnage and collateral damage.

I put it together, easy as pie,

And now all my foes are going to die.

My thanks to Uilleam, Manish and John for the comments and encouragement. For many of the top brass and those firing rockets and missiles from a safe distance, war probably seems like a game.

And thanks to Steve, John C, Nigel, Hugh and Frederick for liking.

Thank you Stephen.
Your first line sums up rather well my thoughts on what I percieve as the normalisation of what in many cases is nothing less than legalised mass murder.

I have serious concerns about the influence on impressionable minds of games such as "Wargasm", and more recently "Call of Duty Modern Warfare" etc.

Very well put Stephen. After all, it's only a game.
