With love, goodbye

entry picture

''Don't trouble the doctor needlessly.''

She said, ''I just want to take my rest, ''

''With your hand in mine, lying peacefully.''

''Remembering our younger years when we were blessed.''

Together, hand in hand, they reminisced,

That moment long ago when they first met.

The passion when they initially kissed

Handsome docker and spirited brunette

Recalling clandestine intercourse

The birth of unexpected twins

Shotgun marriage, they were wed by force

Now their story of happiness begins,

Recollections brought them both to smiles

Reliving halcyon family years

Their daughters have since walked down church aisles

Grandchildren ushered in, with joyous tears

They hadn't and couldn't ever forget

There were no sad tears, they wouldn't cry,

There was nothing ever to regret,

Each action and decision had a why.

She said, ''I'll love you forever!''

He replied, ''I'll love you forever too.''

Softly she said,'' I love you whatever,''

He said, ''You know, that I know you do''

With tenderness, he leaned in, close toward

placed a soft tender kiss upon her brow

Sadly, as he slowly leaned forward,

He heard a sigh, realising that when was now.

Her eyes closed, shut peacefully tight.

She'd fallen eternally asleep,

Finally, her life had taken flight

The ultimate forever leap

He had loved her more than words could say

Finally, he said goodbye that night

Love those that love you come what may

Love them, just love them with all your might

foreverLove

I can't express enough admiration for this, JD. It is tragic yet heartwarming, and so perfectly written. Long live love.
