The Hill

I saw a huge body of men upon a hill.
They chanted names, I hear them still.
Singing dark songs of faraway places.
I saw their features, their sunken faces.
Their hollow looks, their skin of grey.
That's what I saw upon that hill today.
They sang about how lonely life can be.
But then I realised they sang about me.
They beckoned me, but I turned my back.
I hurried away as the sky turned black.
