LENNY

Lenny Mclean, Lenny Mclean

inflictor of pain again and again,

his thermostat so close to insanity

a lover of fame who courted vanity.

A loving father with early issues

triggering vengeful states of mind,

in East End streets pubs and gyms

a massive encounter of the hurting kind.

A Hoxton lad like him could take it

give it out and never fake it,

he joins the ranks of urban heroes

in the sixties and seventies hall of fame,

playing some roles on the silver screen

a rogue to some but never a villain,

A bouncer respected on the scene.

So goodnight Lenny, cancer took you

laid you down to rest at last,

a headstone with your name engraved

reveals a man who misbehaved.

Thanks for reading Red Brick and Stephen. An obscure piece about a bare fist fighter who became an actor - he appeared in Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.
