Anti-Social-ist Behaviour Dis-Order

The following is my response to Red Button's recent post: https://sharkfishinginwales.blogspot.com/2022/10/bemoaning-state-of-high-street.html

Britain’s been given

An Anti-Social-ist Behaviour Dis-Order,

The Tories flaunt it,

Like a naughty teen.

Britain’s ill, but can’t get treament,

Because of the cuts,

So the cuts on her wrists,

Are growing in number,

I’ve grown accustomed to her face,

Hollow-eyed,

De-humanised,

De-socialised,

Designer anti-human,

Anti-social hell-holes,

Where former servicemen can lie

In doorways with their eyes

On Queen Victoria.

Nothing more soul-destroying,

Than a Blackpool or a Rhyl,

Behind the plastic tat and trash,

Inhabited by the transient, the disposessed,

The ghosts of human beings,

Huddled in this social winter,

A society in its death throes,

It’s climate change,

A winter of austerity deliberately,

So cruelly inflicted.

Inflicted. Why? For votes.

Because they must not,

Can not care dare not care,

For power for its own sake’s,

The only game in town,

In towns that have been victims

Of meticulously managed decline

by the Conservative Party.

“Managed Decline” was a policy once applied by Thatcher to Liverpool

Brilliant poem, Uilleam, written with great spirit and perception.

Thanks MC.

The policy of “Managed Decline” had been proposed prior to the Brixton and Toxteth riots, and despite there being 20% unemployment in Liverpool as a whole, and 60% among young black residents in Toxteth.

Heseltine was only sent to Liverpool as a reaction to the riots in Toxteth-see his minute titled “It Took a Riot”.

Could you elaborate on:

1. “society in general has, IMHO, taken a turn for the worse”…in what respects?

2. “its public services are filled by the results!”?

What public services? They are crumbling around our very ears.
An extremely well-managed decline on behalf of disaster capitalism, indeed!

The modern Conservative And Unionist Party certainly seems
occupied by the "wrong sort" - but then society in general has, IMHO, taken a turn for the worse and it can be no real surprise
when its public services are filled by the results!
As for the policy attributed to Thatcher - I seem to recall a certain
Michael Heseltine being sent to Liverpool on some sort of local
recovery/regeneration mission back in the distant past. Was that
doomed to failure - or was it never going to be enough?.
