Newcastle Poetry Festival is staging a one-day live poetry event this month at Northern Stage, within the Newcastle University complex. It’s billed as an Emergency Poetry Summit, a day of readings and reflections on Covid to climate change, with Imtiaz Dharker, Yomi Sode, Khairani Barokka, Romalyn Ante, Hannah Hodgson, Harry Josephine Giles, Jake Morris-Campbell, Don Jenkins, Rowan McCabe, Linda France, Jason Allen Paisant, Polly Atkin, Sylvia Legris, Rishi Dastidar, Jo Clement and Naush Sabah.

One of the events, titled Small Back rooms, will ask the question: is the poetry events sector recovering from the global pandemic? Jake Morris-Campbell will review the “new normal” with regional poetry event producers. How can grassroots poetry organisations survive and thrive, post-pandemic? More details of the 5 May event
