I see you’ll all be taking more time off from work this June
For this you’re in Her Majesty’s debt
But now that I’m retired and don’t need to go to work
That’s another bloody day off I won’t get.

Stat holidays were something to be looked forward to and enjoyed when I was working, Stephen. These days they are to be avoided with lousy rotten kids running riot and holiday prices inflated.
When I was at work, I used to be annoyed if a public holiday fell on a Saturday. What was the point? Unless you work on Saturdays, of course. Gawd bless yer, Maam.
No-one’s ever accused me of working hard, MC. Pinching money, perhaps.
