24000 suns have set on me

24000 dawns have woken me

Each one with quickened pace

In one, long and faster race.

Dawns and dusk become a blur

The spinning world creates the stir.

That blanks my mind as it implodes

At thought that takes me down the road

Rooted here I speed through space

lightning burns contorted face

As each sun sets it leaves a mark

That plunges life into the dark.

But dawn comes round soon enough

Sometimes it’s easy, sometimes it’s tough

That’s 24000 and one

Another day has just begun

Perhaps there’s 10,000 more to go

That figure I’ll never know

As I slow down the sun speeds up

Gazed at from my coffee cup

Which one will I view the last

An orange orb in beauty vast

Or just a cloudy English sky

To which to wave a last goodbye.

A fascinating take on our progress through life, Pete. Makes one think, as they say. The last verse is truly poignant.

An interesting poem with time seen in a different perspective and tinged with humour. I enjoyed this
Thanks
