Tracks

Mammoth boulders fallen
from the cliffs above
oh how they must have thundered
as they crashed
now like ancient monoliths
they grace this holy place
this still wild river
which meanders through the canyon
winding its way
past footprints of ancient beasts
tracks faint but still visible
after eons of time
they tell the tale
the story of what used to be
go softly here
do not disturb the beauty of
this home of giants
whose 3-toed signatures linger still
in the bedrock of these shallows
wind stirs the imagination
the past echoes off the canyon walls
the sound of trickling water
sings songs of long ago.

I enjoyed the way you have combined the creation of the landscape with the description of the way it appears today. Beautiful. Thank you. John Botterill.

This is one of your best poems to date. Described and expressed in detail. You have taken the reader to that canyon and that is what all poets hope to achieve.
Thank you for this

Keith
