While Evil Walks

entry picture

As evening draws its curtain across the sky

Darkness settles softly upon the streets

When all has grown quiet

A lone figure travels abroad

Fear; the most unwelcome of companions

Follows closely behind women

As they journey alone

While hastening towards home

To safety, security and comfort

They must remain ever mindful and alert

Listening, attentive, watchful

For some of course, home gives no sanctuary

But is the most dangerous place of all

What can keep women safe?

From misogynists, who would inflict evil

Monsters who would threaten and menace

(Society needs to change to ensure this safety, stop the hatred and promote positive attitudes to women)

Well said Brenda, lots of truth in these lines.

A very fine and heartfelt poem, Brenda. The world needs constantly reminding of this issue. It is a deep-seated problem.
