Before Our Very Eyes
Stories in the news repeat
daily tragedies we face
how people treat each other
has become a damn disgrace
Everything is upside down
what's right no longer is
isn't it a shame they say
that it has come to this
There is no moral fiber
people do not show respect
heroes toppled, laws dismantled
and this is what you get
You see it all around you
rules of conduct don't apply
our values fast diminishing
before our very eyes.

I remember a critical quote castigating the attitudes of younger
people and how they behaved, and was nodding in recognition -
until I reached the last line which informed me that they were
words from a famous Greek from two thousand years ago!.
