Daughter Of Eons

You're seen beneath broadleaves
as light rain passes over

Disaster upon disaster
safely behind you

When the rainbow shows
you're happy to move on

You're caught listening sometimes
sorrowful sighs on the wind

Driving home today
how many to run out of road?

Your eyes shock those now asleep wide awake
and those all too awake at last shall dream

You speak of a clock
smashed to smithereens
     still working

You stand by crescent lakes
where the serpent once flowed

And born men will find you
where the stream must erupt again

For expiration- lamentation
Yours the shift to consolation
     still so hard to fathom

But they cry to you in vain
those desperate as starving men
for a significance
     in right and wrong

On artificial islands
moored to foreign shores
you sing of future peace

One artist shows a chess set
all the pieces white

You knock all this to the floor
for your own image
an unmarked jig-saw puzzle
