Cryptic Poem 008: Glory be to him

entry picture

Okay folks. This month we’ve got a kind of feminist hymn in an almost traditional Shakespearean sonnet form. Go figure. Some of the rhymes are a bit ‘halfish’ but the rhyme scheme is ABBA CDCD EFFE GG. First one to finish gets a signed photograph of Germaine Greer praying in a doublet and hose.

Glory be to Him

Glory be to Him. His light will shine ----

Upon all His works. ----- from chaos,

The sweetest harvest from the direst ----,

Life eternal from the -------- seed sown.

What joy to ----- in this world He made

And feel His warmth dissolve the sharpest -----,

To doze in the cool forests of His -----

When the sun’s passion becomes a ----- boast.

O ------ stillness behind all motion,

Force imperious within ----------,

To sing Your ------ will be my life’s mission,

My voice will cross the land, sail the -----

Cursing the blasphemy ----- to recur

Regarding where You would be without ---.

SOLUTION TO CRYPTIC POEM 007: City Lost

The weather is to turn

The loveless dark advancing

The fallacy is true and real

The demon hordes are dancing

Fate spares no son or daughter

Its refusal to abide

And life is just a pebble thrown

By misery’s high tide

The streets are paved with fractured hope

Each piece a mirrored shard

And in the forge of every soul

The lonely hammer hard

The weather is to turn

The loveless dark advancing

The fallacy is true and real

The demon hordes are dancing
