Donations are essential to keep Write Out Loud going

TIME IS RUNNING OUT FOR WRITE OUT LOUD ...

… in its attempt to raise funds to secure its future. Our current appeal https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/wolpoetry has five days to run – until 31 January – and so far we have raised just over £2,000 of the £10,000 total – to be matched by another £10,000 - that we originally set our heart on. This money is needed to develop the site, to pay new people to take us forward into a sustainable future. Our volunteers cannot go on for ever. We want to transform Write Out Loud from a volunteer-led organisation into a professional one.

WE CANNOT CONTINUE AS WE HAVE BEEN DOING FOR VERY MUCH LONGER.

We know many of you have donated generously to us in the past, and to this cause as well. Thank you so much for that. This blog is aimed at those who haven’t managed to, or got around to it so far. It’s as simple as this – can you spare us at least a fiver?

We know you value this site, this poetry community, or at least the blogs. They would disappear along with everything else if Write Out Loud was forced to pack up, after spreading the word about grassroots poetry for so many years.

It seems a shame to us – we hope it seems a shame to you, too. So go on, please, if you haven’t done so already - gissa fiver!

Thank you Stephen and Trevor - and even more thanks to those that have contributed more than once. Over and above, but heartfelt gratitude. It means a lot.

I contributed a while ago & will do
so again as it's nearly payday ?.
In my simple, uneducated opinion this is one of the best poetry sites out there... Even though it's the only one I've ever been on ?

I, for one realised I have taken the site for granted, and was happy to donate Greg. Not sure what the numbers are but it's not a lot to ask.

Best wishes mate.

I made my donation a while ago. I hope this message and the online event will encourage more contributions.

Greg, I have really appreciated WOL and will do all I can to contribute.
Let's hope your appeal will kick-start the funding, even at this late stage.
Very best wishes to everyone.

I have always self-funded my forays into poetry & song publication
and see this as no different-with the exception of having to accept
work being restricted by other opinions beyond my control.
Nonetheless, the "shop window" is a concept well worth preserving
for many reasons and I have contributed accordingly. As for the
total sought, it is bears comparison against the sort of sums that
are made available for various "prizes" that get publicised on
this site, not least in the "high end" range of the world of poetry
publication..

That will be really sad if WOL disappears. I've already made as much contribution as I feel is possible/reasonable for my circumstances. It wasn't a contribution for the past efforts as laudable as they may be, it was intended to support the future existence of the site.

Sometimes I get the feeling that every time I become a frequent consumer of something it fades unexpectedly out of existence.. I would feel guilty but previously it has only happened with chicken korma pouches, thai green curry soup, and other similar items that I have let my broken-heart try and forget.. never with poetry websites before.
