3RD CHILDHOOD---a poem by O.L. Buzzerd

when men get old

they do silly things

and people say old men

have gone into their second childhood

as old men we revert to doin

stupid childish things

that only a kid would do

at my age I have progressed

way beyond that

I am currently eyeballin' my 3rd childhood

and am full of tricks and

cantankerous behavior

my experience is that

the longer you live

the dumber you become

so I figure by the time

I'm done

I will be like an infant

unable to walk or talk

I've already lost my teeth

so I caint chew gum

and all my hair is gone

so I'm bald as a baby

what I don't look forward to

is the diapers

guess it Depends

on how desperate you are.

O.L. Buzzerd

(the long and short of it is, old men are unrepentant kids,

who to their families give, more grief than what they get.)

Age-wise, I am probably considered to be in this category but make
no claim to it. Indeed, living in solitary contentment, it is other often
far younger people who seem to be in a state of permanent infancy,
with bags of bluster, clamorous claims to "rights" won by others,
and lacking the balance of redemptive self-discipline. Get out of my life and out of my way, kiddo! ?
