Queen of the Galaxy

It's funny how small world's collide
And may it be by chance or by design
Lives become intertwined
An insignificant "Hello" is just the beginning, a fresh start.
First introductions evolve into "I saved you a spot!"
And from there we age into the years of teenage angst, learning the art of cheating on tests, giggling behind stacks of books while trading black nail polish and fake tattoos.
All of it is gone before we even get the chance to say goodbye...
I've met so many colorful souls
But not a color so vibrant as she
All my life I've known her
But years separate people
Growing apart instead of together
I never forget a face
No matter how faded one may become
Some we never meet again
Death steals those we care about
Holding them hostage beyond return
Prisoner's of the grave
A memory is all we're allowed to have
Just a small capacity of our brain is we what we're supposed to give to those who've passed on?
I hate that.
We long for more
But we've had our chance
Did you waste it?
I did
Two months too late.
I had no idea
Now she's gone
An effervescent soul
Full of laughter
In love with the universe
She was the Daughter of the stars
Now she's one of them
They made her a Queen
Holding hands with constellations she sits on her throne.
Breathing stardust out into the atmosphere
She's simply the brightest
Smiling forever above us.

"She's simply the brightest"
I will look for her in the night sky
