Letter to Dad

To,
    The Dad I never knew

When you first saw me, I wasn't the apple of your eye
When you  first held me, all you said was goodbye.
Your absence made me question my existence
This forced me to stay within the fence.

Each night, I could hear Mom crying to herself
Where deep inside I was blaming myself.
If my presence upsets you so much
I beg you to return since now its too much.

I am leaving, leaving for Hamilton
So return Mom her one and only sun.
Dad give her the love she needs
And while doing so, please repent for your deeds.

Although I don't know what kind are you
But I believe that you did love her too.
You failed to become a dad but don't offend
Your dutiful existence as a loving husband.

                                              From,
                                                    Upstanding fifteen-year-old
                                                        Daughter
