Forgetting Me Suits You

You look better than for ages

A healthy bloom on your skin

The way you walk so boldly

Proudly holding up your chin

Of course, you didn't see me

Admiring your mien so new

I must admit, against my will

That forgetting me suits you

Yet paradoxical as it seems

Without my baneful actions

You'd be that mouse of old

Tip-toeing about in fractions

Yes, I changed yon fey Eliza

That girl without much to say

Blushing, with averted eyes

Like a young antelope at bay

Unintended the outcome, for

I'd have preferred you to stay

But perhaps I've changed too

We helped each other's way

I wish I could rewrite the script

No river ever hit the sea twice

The thing is, you never knew

Underneath the frost, I'm nice

Of course, you didn't see me

Admiring your mien so new

I must admit, against my will

That forgetting me suits you

A very cleverly written and most enjoyable read Simon.

Like a song lyric, this is both rhythmic and pleasing, and the pay-off
line just right.
