Joy Of Painting

entry picture

Last night we saw a programme, we had never seen before

It is called the Joy of Painting, first broadcast circa 1984

It took us just a few minutes, to realise it wasn't a joke

A blank canvas, some paint and a gentle speaking bloke

He introduced us how to create a painting from the very start

His enthusiastic manner, guiding us through his work of art

Such a simple format just a bloke, his easel and his paint

It was so relaxing, our new guilty pleasure, quite quaint

If someone had said to us you should give this watch a try

We would have said, we would rather stick pins in our eye

If you feel the need to escape this crazy new normal world

Try the Joy of Painting, a new experience will be unfurled

If there is a time when you feel your stress levels increase

Switch on the TV, watch the creation of today's masterpiece

just for fun

Thanks for the likes Stephen and Tom.
Thanks for the comment MC.
Yes the repair shop is another favourite but often has me in tears. The background stories can be so emotional.
This painting program caught me completely off guard. My new guilty pleasure.

I saw this programme and found both the style of the presenter and
his skill in developing his art well worth my time. This sort of
instructional/inspirational programming is the upside of TV viewing.
Another example is "The Repair Shop" - in which treasured items
are skilfully "brought back to life" by assorted experts in restoration.
Admiration earned and deserved !

Yes! Julie, I love painting shows. How wonderful that you have captured the magic and charm. Much cheaper than therapy.
