Memento Vivere

Memento Vivere, "remember to live,"

Bound by the knowledge that one day you'll surely die,

To take only as much as you give,

And in that taking, take only what you need, and know why,

To measure every breath and heartbeat as a gift,

To take joy in the teachings of every lesson learned,

To value abundance as much as times of thrift,

And that your brief time is measured by the turning of this world,

Open your eyes, your mind and all of your senses,

To the glory that surrounds each moment of your day,

Acknowledge that as well as gifts, life comes with expenses,

And to fully own its blessings you have to pay your way,

Don't dull your head with too much wine,

Or hide your heart in sorrow, nor bathe too long in grief,

Be accepting of the knowledge, there's only so much time,

Before the tree of life must shed each precious leaf,

Treat other living things as you would be treated,

Know that they're the travellers you walk this pathway with,

May your spirit burn bright and never be defeated,

Memento Vivere, "Don't forget to live."

Thank you so much Keith and Victoria. I love the Stoics and the three main principles in which I find the most comfort are, "Memento Mori, Memento Vivere, and Amor Fati." Thank you both, I am genuinely humbled by the fact you saved it to your favourites.❤❤

Jason,

This poem is outstanding in its content and style. It enriches the concept of blessings which we are often apt to overlook and the fact that the rough comes with the smooth. Like Vautaw, this will be added to my list of favourite poems. it speaks well of our mortality and living life for the moment.

Thank you for this
