Thoughts of a 95 year old

I sit on a bench and people watch,

Better than being at home with a bottle of scotch.

In watching people I feel alive,

And along with them I'm here to survive.

The present must be enjoyed,

Lungs,heart and liver deployed.

Fight for the future that you will love,

Enjoy your life before your call from above.

Life is a one way street,

Our future is there for us to meet.

We should never try to go back,

A memory ability we will lack.

What dreams will come when I leave my body,

Will I be able when my brain becomes shoddy?

Will I be able to message when it all ends,

A reliable report of what happens to family and friends ?

It is high time for me to depart,

95 years away from my start.

I now begin to see things as they really are,

I'm so fortunate to have come this far.

A timely reminder of the upside of the passing years.
Age is a gift. So many never get to enjoy it in this life.
