Are we going to do this again?

Are we going to do this again?

The nations of the world slowly re arm with missiles and tanks

New submarines are launched alongside aircraft carriers

Are we going to do this again?

Trades wars, border disputes and plagues beset us

More casualties and increased poverty and prejudice abound

Are we going to do this again?

Brinkmanship, threats and even more sophisticated weaponary

Military hardware prepared and stockpiled

Are we going to do this again?

Young men and women in uniform with their brains blown out

Those at home, the elderly and children will perish

Are we going to do this again?

The dead and mortally wounded are those who pay the price

Those who could have been writers, poets, artists and musicians

Are we going to do this again?

The earth becomes scarred and polluted

Nature is ransacked and violated, animals are casulaties also

Are we going to do this again?

People gassed, exterminated with the vilest of weapons

Minorities oppressed, persecuted and annihilated

Are we going to do this again?

Towns and cities laid waste by constant bombardment

People starving reduced to tearing horses apart for food

Are we going to do this again?

Preparations are underway each and everyday

To do what we have done before and learn nothing from it

Are we really going to do this again?

After a century of brutal savagery with millions slaughtered

Our foes then are now our friends and allies

Are we really going to do this again?

It would seem that we learn little except peversity

We are blinded to beauty by the glory of war

This will happen again

This poem transcends time. Let’s hope we don’t do this again?

Poets as I was told are prophetic in nature. I just hope we don't do this again.

Great poem. You have a way of speaking to the core fabrics of our existence as humans.

The repetition goes on and on of so many being pushed around by so few.

And how devious those few are!

Great poem Keith-thank you.
