Advance into Nothingness

Advance into Nothingness

From metal crates metal cylinders are dropped to kill or maim

Inside metal tubes we fly off on holiday to evade reallity

From metal pipes come gas and water

We drive metal cars to contaminate our world

With an addiction for stainless steel we adorn our homes

to shine in our self made worlds off dullness

Old stone wells gave us water, clean and fresh

Rivers still flow as before with rubbish concealed beneath their surface

in their sunken depths lay old perambulators or stolen supermarket trolleys

Nature struggles to retain its pristine purity but to little avail

we are the destroyers, vandals and goths forever dissatisfied

We inhabit and inherit what we are given with little or no gratitude

natures gifts we cast to the winds like blighted corn

We pollute our homes and lives with trivia and artifical smells

with little care or reverence for the beauty which surrounds us.

The plastic diety controls and encompasses us

in its web of deceit and unbridled autonomy

A foot print for eternity never to be fully erased

It is all our doing in the name of progress

We are all to blame

When we contaminate and murder what happens to art and music

concentration was for the learned but became the tool of death camps

Lethargy envelops us into a soporific place

our nests are comfort zones in fearful isolation

We retreat from reality as it is too much to bear

we escape with substances of a drawn out or sudden death

Release comes finally when we are lowered below

then we advance into nothingness

Great write about such an important issue. It's heartbreaking to see beautiful beaches contaminated by all sorts of rubbish, especially plastic, and birds and animals condemmned to a slow death because they have become enveloped in plastic bags or nets. This has been going on for years, but the people who make the decisions haven't done much about pollution, especially plastic. Some heads of government say the problem doesn't even exist.
