THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK

An evaluation of the wider ramifications of history................................................................................

The advent of the BLM movement and the assaults, physical and verbal, on the visible evidence of the past

history of the British Empire had me considering a hitherto overlooked/ignored aspect of its existence, not

least with regard to its relationship with black (and other) lives during the recent past.

It is totally feasible to propose that had it not been for the existence of the Empire and its WW2 stand  - led and voiced by its pugnacious indefatigable spokesman, himself a child of its time, the seemingly unstoppable

forces of the Axis Alliance, with its rapidly expanding empire of slave labour/death camps and overweening

assumptions of racial superiority, embodied in the German Aryan brotherhood belief and in the "Knights of Bushido" in Japan, would have prevailed, to see the world fall into the abyss so graphically forecast by the

UK leader.  Add the situation in America: barely prepared and largely isolationist - and the Ribbentrop pact

between Germany and Russia during the first years of that monumental ensuing conflict - and it is all too

likely that the lives protesting on streets today would not be here now but eliminated en masse by a

practised  perfected death camp system that would have been imposed across what is now the emerging third world, used in victory as a source of wealth mined by disposable slave labour beyond any comprehension

today in order to achieve the merciless ambitions of the victorious strutting masters of the world.

But in their way, for two vital years, stood the British Empire and its far-flung dominions...both of which

are targets for attack and ridicule today..

The wider ramifications of history are not always promoted but are still as important as those seized on today.

For lives to matter, they have to  exist.  There can be little doubt that the existence of the British Empire at a

crucial time in world history played an essential part.in ensuring the defeat of the foes who would have

arranged for the world to descend into the abyss.and bring it to a level of inhumanity beyond the worst

inventions of a perverted imagination.

My reading of it is that perhaps people, countries etc should be judged in the round. The past cannot be ignored, but perhaps later better behaviour goes some way in redressing the balance.

The point of my blog is that had it not been for the existence of the
British Empire (you are able to say all you like about its rights and wrongs) at a pivotal time in history, then the world as we know
it today, for all its reasons, real or imagined, to take issue, would not
exist. Those aware of history would know that the first targets for disposal by the "master race" ideology in victory would have been
those they despised as racially inferior. The evidence is recorded
in horrendous historical detail. Ask the Jews and the gypsies. Had the British Empire not existed.and resisted, this policy would have undoubtedly continued across the conquered continents and the
future changed utterly. If anyone thinks differently, then let them argue their case.
JC has made the vital valid point in his contribution - just seen Thanks for that.

Kevin - I don’t think MC is saying that black people have no cause for complaint. I do think he is saying that without the Empire and Commonwealth standing together in the Second World War, if Nazism had prevailed, protest like BLM would have been extinguished.

Mark. I hope that I have totally missed the point of this piece, because if you are saying what I think you are saying then you couldn't be further wrong.
You seem to be saying that black people have nothing to complain about, and if it weren't for their white saviours they wouldn't even be here.
Please tell me I'm wrong, and that that isn't what you meant.
