Young Musicians

Young musicians
Have three years
To make it
Before their parents
Demand a return
On their investment

Young musicians just
Finding their voice
When unexpected
Pregnancies
Force a choice

Playing with such
Passion and conviction
The energy of youth
Controlled demolitions

Young musicians
Against numbers
And statistics
Frontline workers
On the fight to be human

Old musicians take note
Then return to their work
Knowing most won’t survive
Another winter in New York

I totally agree with you Bob with this. The arts council has just started up again in this country looking to give money to what as seen as a worthy artistic cause.
Nice one

Only too true unfortunately. Teaching their art is one of the ways to survive, but that doesn't leave them enough time to dedicate to their own artistic development, whether dancing, painting or music or whatever road they wish to take.

Thanks all for your comments; it's almost a religious act to go into the arts in these times. It's even worse for dancers.

The dedication required to bring forth music is captured here and
reminds us that we are blessed to have the spirits that pursue an art
that brings such joy.
