The Vampire Virus

entry picture

We ask where you came from,

how long do you intend to stay.

You are not welcomed here,

please checkout and go away.

Perhaps you came from a bat,

sold on a market selling meat.

Purchased and ate by a man,

who preferred rare meat to eat.

Maybe you were a vampire,

sustained by the cull of lives.

Could the blood in your flesh,

resist heat and somehow survive.

Did your cells invade his body,

resulting in hyperventilating death.

Did you mutate into coronavirus,

instead of blood now stealing breath.

Reborn, passing human to human,

via the breath you desire and take.

Perhaps I will replace my mask,

for a crucifix, a hammer and a stake.

Lettuce and chocolate, really? what a treat
and may I add, much safer than rare meat!

Garlic, Oh! and silver bullets... they don't work either.

Poetry is currently the ONLY way to prevent it

IF and only if you stay at home alone to write it, and NEVER set foot over your threshold.

Lines of salt... They are as much use as a chocolate fireguard!

Mind if you if are alone and no one sees you... you can eat that chocolate and it does not count.

But you must never admit it... and of course, it is a great dessert to follow lettuce.

I gather from recent news that we could now be facing another plague, this time a swine flu from China. When will all this ever stop?
