The Plateau of Reconciliation

The Plateau of Reconciliation

Winter lies dormant as a distant memory

Autumn ahead on a new blustery horizon

Spring has served its purpose of renewal

As we bask on the plateau of a summer's sun

We have reached that idyll of warmth and comfort

Where gardens are enrobed in fragrant majesty

A court of delightful colours as a Divine gift

Peace reigns in this kingdom of sublime harmony

We long to be outdoors and free to wander

With nature as we re connect anew with beauty

Birds sing, wood pigeons warble as children make hay

The season of entrancement is upon us

Shears clip hedges, lawns are mowed to welcome a splash of bloom

Gentle breezes merely stir the landscape

Wind, rain, hail and sleet are vanquished

A power gilded with splendour has given Royal assent

In the short span of night hedgehogs scurry to and fro

Flowers snooze until the break of day

The landscape transformed comes alive

As bees seek their pollen, birds build their homes aloft

We live on a plateau of coming together

Of sharing a myriad of natural gifts for the coming harvest

In a land transformed for the sake of unity of purpose

Where nothing can violate or disturb creation

Trees and clouds are my greatest loves

Without them, their movement and grace

We would dwell in a barren wilderness

They speak of a languid travail in life, which they adorn

The longest day has already visited us

We sit secure on the plateau of reconciliatiion

We come together with a spirit of optimism

To rediscover the exquisite beauty and fullness of love

Another good piece of work Keith, I particularly like the penultimate verse.
