No more

No more

toll

the Church bells

for the dead

No more

held the death rituals

prayers and remembrance

to honour them

No more

mass gatherings

to say goodbyes

to them

No more

friends can come

to say final farewell

to them

No more

reverential

burial service for

them

No more

than a few

close relatives to the

cemetery can come

No more

hugs from the bereaved

to console

each other

No more

closure for the survivors

and thanks to coronavirus

lockdown and social distancing

the dead are denied

a dignified end

Many thanks for reading this poem and the constructive criticism offered. Encouraging word too.

The repeated 'no more' conjours up how we feel at this dire time, and the tragedy of losing people we love without being able to se or comfort them. Great writing.

Very flattered to be considered to be in the same league as you. It'll take a century for me to catch up with you. I'm a whole lap behind in this race.
