A Curse or a Blessing

A Curse or a Blessing

A plague sweeps across the land with vengance

Where blossoms are brimming in our gardens

Amidst anxiety and terrible uncertainty

The sun sits above us as a golden crown

A cough, sneeze or fever sends a shiver of fear

As leaves appear and nature comes to life

Confined to home and garden, time to contemplate

But free to relish the arrival of Spring

A hurried walk to the local shops

An afternoon of gentle warmth in the garden

Ill winds blow strident pangs of doom and gloom

As the world about us says fear not

All is not lost, take care, don't let go

Enjoy time at home and hearth, eat good food

Read, write, make music and paint or draw

The storm clouds will abate

Nothing lasts forever, not even a virus

Be patient, be strong, be creative and persevere

KJ - a timely bit of positivity - thank you. We need to keep a sense of proportion and use our heads...not lose them!
By the way, your blog can be viewed as TWO poems...the first finishing on the line ending "the arrival of spring"....pleasingly
complete in itself.

I agree Keith, I do like to feel that we are truely blessed to be going through this at the the beginning of spring! I get hayfever though so it's a bit tricky being in my garden in case I start sneezing and everyone fears the worst!
