I am a senior Chemical Engineering major. While I might be a total chemistry nerd, I love to write. I've been writing for as long as I can remember, but I've never really done anything with my poems except hide them away. My blog is made up of poems I wrote years ago and ones I will write tomorrow.
I am left Alone with my thoughts. They keep me up at night. The dark shadows Are all that’s left After you’ve drifted. Drifted off To a new world, That I can’t reach. You’ve escaped, And worse yet, With my heart. My heart, It sleeps next to you, Wanting to be close to you, Leaving me here, To struggle my way, Through the dark. The dark, Harder than one Might think, to hide You can’t hide, When you’re all That exists. Existence, Is there a point When my mind Lives separate From my heart? And off you go. Go to rest. What I would give, For a thoughtless sleep, Or for you to stay With me, to Calm the angry ocean. The ocean, Flooding my brain, With fearful waters, And damaging waves. It won’t stop until Morning rises again. Again, understand, That I need you To distract me, Distract my mind, And hopefully trick it Into not drowning me tonight.
