Pale to blue the candle burns,
lighting the golden angels prayer.
Shadows haunt us all our lives,
like music from a melancholy horn.
Suffice to say we learned our lessons
and we were good.
Suffice to say we sang and danced.
Suffice to say we payed all attention
and tried to understand,
Hard as it was we gave it our best,
though no one was there to hold our hands.

No, never listen,
but believe them when they say fire burns bright in that asylum of night.
We chose the dirt path
with all it's jagged rocks.
Hobbits with no worries or cares
but enough problems to fill the canyon of dreams.
Still, time was only a legend to us
and carefree summer afternoons stockpiled
until years were like letters in a poets dictionary...
so numerous you pay them no heed.

We lived like that until we were too old to lie to ourselves anymore.
Until our muses ran off to torture some younger soul.

Must admit i didn't get all of it, Terry to be honest but I particularly like
