Unlearning what has 

Ceased to serve, 

While still pestered 

By the electrified spectres

Of what has been, 

Yet faithful footstep 

After footstep,

Doubt is allayed,

And, in the distance,

A tabula rasa seems

To gleam, inviting

A lightness of soul

To descend, as when

A dandelion to

The breeze defers...

Captured not even once;

In its wake?

A tree-speckled past;

Yet balloons

Defy borders, drifting

Past, nonchalant, 

Intentional perhaps, 

Like a needed migration

Of imagination to where

Life does matter much...

Whilst a recondite chant, 

In remembrance rooted

And forgiveness steeped, 

Waits in the wings

For a time when folly

Reclaims its penchant

For reverberating with the urgency

Of dauntless, disowned decibels...

Trees tower over 

Human affairs, perplexed

By our follies;

Their rings mark time

In a dignified manner, 

While we strive to run

Rings round each other,

Ignobly, if needs must;

Besides, trees know

What we often ignore:

That even the garlanded

Amongst us can't ensnare

Time; they, too, helplessly

Will see sand devoured

Inside a glass of hours...

not some fruition

Of this curious carnival

To be traversed,

Before every incongruity 

Melts into the stranglehold

A serpentine saviour

Won't be a saviour

At all, and irony

A minor skew tending

Towards what we should do:

Some thinly-veiled idealism
