Lonely Typewriter Seeks Loving Home

entry picture

Lonely Typewriter seeks Loving Home

(Inspired by d.knape's 'Forgotten Typewriter' and dedicated to all those lonely typewriters waiting for a loving home)

I am a little typewriter
Sitting in the shop
I may look old and type-worn
But still can type full stops ..........
..................................................

My keys are still together
My ribbon is intact
My 'a' through use so many times
Is just a little cracked

My 'z' and 'x' are as-new

Was not in office zoo

Sex industry I stayed clear of

I'm pure and virgin true

My backspace button sometimes sticks

And needs a little oil

Make sure you use typewriter type

Cos car oil clogs my coil

What more to say and sell myself?

Longevity is proven

Was first out of my factory

In 1927

Hello?

I see you looking at me
Through the window shop
Please take me home and love me
Buy me now?, chop-chop ?

I wondered why my writer
Was always overheating
Steam rising, fingers racing
While I was on seat, seating....?

Don you always write from a steaming typewriter!

Well oiled brain cells
Better than
Baby oiled pecs
No wonder
Pure typewriter
Stayed away
From all sex?

You didn't know us writer types
Needed a bit of oil?
If not we are like cars Ruthy
We do if oil-less boil...?

Glad to see Little Typewriter take it's rightful place on centre stage at last! I loved the thinking behind how much certain letter keys have been used. I never knew that type writers needed oil. There was a craze a few years ago for a short time to attach an old typewriter keyboard to a modern monitor which quite a work of art!
