IT'S A HEARTACHE THING - Country Lament

Thanks, Julia, for the vocal

IT'S A HEARTACHE THING (C)M.C. Newberry 2018/2019.

I thought that you'd come back to me when I saw you at the door

I thought that life was looking to be kind

But you told me you'd returned to take what I flung on the floor

You smiled your smile and hoped I didn't mind

It's a heartache thing to understand that you have gone for good

To realise your eyes had told me so

I find your trace most every place - somehow i knew I should

It's a heartache thing, something I've come to know

I couldn't bear to watch you put away our precious past

Packing up the love that made my life so fine

It seemed to take forever until suddenly - at last -

You'd done and gone and you're no longer mine

It's a heartache thing to understand that you have gone for good

To realise your eyes had told me so

I see your face most every place, somehow I knew I would,

It's a heartache thing, something I'll always know.

Thanks for the comment on Seeing Red. It's always special when you see a wild animal that doesn't run away, or disappear alarmed at the sight of one. I had never seen a sleeping fix before, much less one that remained relaxed, and went back to sleep. Jennifer

M.C. that was easily your best. (Or is it a case that Julia could make anything sound good) either way, it was a treat to listen to. Cheers Kevin.

Don - thanks for the comments. I've always been happy to combine
words and music - harking back to the days of troubadors and the
like - and the way words can tell a story in the framework of a tune.
I can't claim credit for the A&R - that's courtesy of a guy called
Pete Dymond here in the UK who uses my taped "rough" to supply
the finished item from his studio in Bristol. Always dependable!!

Golly gosh! I thought it was just a poem I was getting and was waiting for the happy ending. Not to be. I did though get the feeling of a song here. I thought do I want to hear MC's melodious country voice or do I want to remain basking in my own dream? I decided to take the plunge. Gosh! Is this what he does in his back room?...... Full sound studio with backing singers? WOL is privileged.....?

Well done MC.......
