you may think that simple word

was nothing but a phrase

but that little girl you complimented

will remember that all her days

 

and when you lay on your deathbed

considering your life,

you wonder if what you did

was really worth the strife

 

you see the smiles on your love’s face

so bright and vividly

on that first day you learned to say
