Flipping Switches

In your absence I’ve assumed your positions
Taken up your points of view
I guess I was always jealous
You’d gotten there first

I practice my apologies
And head tilts
Imagining Marcelo Mastroianni
As I rehearse

By chance I call your number
It’s always a surprise
How you sound
And I discover you’ve taken up mine
-Still no common ground

You present a very interesting situation in your poem Robert. Loved the flipping switches analogy.
