A Cornucopia Of Haikus

PHOBOPHOBIA

It's fear of the flood

of fear that flows through me which

I fear most, by far.

MORE TELLTALE SIGNS

We say we're not apes

and yet it's the human race

which shat where it ate.

THE ULTIMATE DRUG

Yes, I'm an addict -

the withdrawals will kill me

if I don't eat food.

WIE!*

Nothing good can come

of our obsession with this:

it will eat us all.

JACKIE'S KISS

Tender was that kiss:

a light touch against my neck,

felt once and no more.

BOOM-BOOM

Just one heart, that's all

I ask of the world, to beat

in tandem with mine.

SUN-TZU'S USUAL RECONDITE ASSESSMENT OF THE SITUATION

nowhere is secure

the centre is collapsing

left and right are one

BREVI MANU**

Nothing can withstand

this catastrophocalypse

wrought by our own hand.

ME 'N' ME

Nothing goes better

together than rum, good grass

and loud, heavy dub.

KLOWN KAR KRASHING

A klown kar krashing

over a hilltop, pell-mell,

makes this noise: 'brexit!'

A MISREAD TV GUIDE LISTING

Whither Gore Vidal?

Not quite. Tonight on 5Spike:

'Weather Gone Viral'.

*WIE! = Worst Invention Ever! (The internet.)

** Brevi Manu = 'by one's own hand' (Latin)

Hi Martin - yes, I love writing them for that exact same reason ? Forces you to condense.

Hi Laura. Thanks very much for your encouraging comment. I love writing haikus, especially when my brain's not firing properly - they allow me to express the little that's on my mind without the need to expand on what I'm saying. They're also a counter to those poems of mine that do witter and bloviate!
