Migration Stories

Crocus Books are launching ‘Migration Stories’ in Manchester on Thursday, 11th March.

‘Migration Stories’ gives fictional, and fictionalised, voice to U.K. migrants, from both the recent and more distant past.

Poet, Anne Caldwell, describes the book as “A fantastic collection of short fiction that gets right under the skin of the experience and what it means for individuals.”

While Professor David Morley of the University of Warwick describes it as; “A fascinatingly readable, yet terrifying set of stories; they are brilliantly written and precisely edited.”

There will be refreshments, and an opportunity to get signed copies of the book; as well as readings by the contributors, which include:Bashir Ahmed, Muli Amaye, Valerie Bartley, Maggie Cobbett,  Matthew Curry Nicola Daly, Rowena Fan, Ovie Jobome, Kathleen McKay, Martin De Mello, Vijay Medtia Tariq Mehmood, Qaisra Shahraz, Sue Stern, Kim Wiltshire, and Hua Zi.

The launch will be held at Waterstone’s Reading Room (2nd floor), 91 Deansgate, Manchester M3 2BW at 6.30pm. Entry is £2 (can be discounted from the price of the book), but places are limited.
