TRAVEL

When I read of all this travel

My patience soon starts to unravel;

People going here and there

(How do they come up with the fare?)

Taking with them their personal woe

That accompanies them wherever they go.

What is the cause of this endless procession

Of people transported by some obsession

To head to somewhere else beyond

The place they know and have a bond

Of familiarity that helps keep them sane

Until seized by the urge to head off again.

Exchanging one place for another

And paying happily for the bother

Of all that packing and unpacking

In search of something they find lacking

In their lives in that place called home

And think awaits them if they roam

To god-knows-where with god-knows-who

Are also planning to travel too!

Far away places with strange sounding names. It's all become a bit one-upmanship as folk are vying to out-do each other. When they get there they lie around the pool as it's not safe to go outside the complex. Sounds like a hollow victory...still if that's what turns them on.
