fourteen years

Fourteen years

One white wedding,
two joyful births
and three houses.

Four  funerals,
five holidays abroad
and six over here.

Seven new kettles,
eight new toasters and
nine coats of paint on the door.

Ten types of mug in the cupboard,
eleven family photos up the stairs and
twelve worn novels over the bed.

Thirteen loving words in the drawer,
the next one yet to come.
Fourteen years, we're not yet done.

Ditto with the compliments and anecdotes. I'm finished with cheap toasters - have to get a new one on Monday. That's three in two years -I get your point.
