Winter Wisteria

entry picture

Winter Wisteria

Gnarled winter fingers of Wisteria

 Crying out for spring

With hedgerow birds who serenade them

 As they sing

They heed the call to nestle

 In the bare bent boughs

But they seek solace

In the bronzed and twisted beech for now.

The grand glory of your velvet violet blooms

A dream of future times

The beauty of your wistful winter arms is here and now

And for a moment mine.

Eve,

thank you this poem as wisteria is one of my all time favourite blooms. Roll on spring when we can see it again.
