Manic Monday - Cardiff

entry picture
Manic Monday is the newest, freshest event from Jam Bones, a literary event organising company run by award-winning, Cardiff-born poetess Mab Jones. Billed as a 'spoken word cabaret', it features performance poets, storytellers, prose artists, comedians, as well as the odd burlesque artist and magician. The first Monday of each month, it promises an exciting and entertaining night out for anyone looking for something a bit different!

On February 1st, Jam Bones: Manic Monday will feature international poetry slam star and BBC Radio favourite Niall-Spooner Harvey, who was critically lauded for his first poetry collection; comic tale-teller beyond compare Dan Thomas; cool and hip John Tripp Spoken Poetry Award finalist Nicholas Whitehead; and performance prose poppet par excellance Leona Jones. It also features an open mic section, for established and aspiring poets, as Jam Bones' main aim is to help build a spoken word scene here in the city by encouraging local talent.

ITV Wales will be filming at this night of vivacious verse, vivid vernacular, and verbal virtuosity for a feature on 'The Wales Show'. There is a real buzz around the event - with elements of comedy, theatre, and rap, it is the most exciting literary genre around! And the event venue - The Promised Land on Windsor Place, Cardiff - is pretty cool too, with the Manic's James Dean Bradfield a regular patron, plus a recent visit from film director Shane Meadows and actor Paddy Constantine.

Jam Bones: Manic Monday takes place at 7.30pm on Monday 1st February. Let the first Monday of your month be the best one of the month - mark Manic Monday in your diary now!
