Jamie’s Place

(A tribute to Jamie Havern)

By The Urban Poet

Although he stayed inside,

for the latter days of his time

he just loved being outside,

running around, free, nothing to hide.

We like to think of him out in the park

All day long, until it got dark

As a younger boy, dashing helter skelter,

hence the idea of this tribute, a shelter

A peaceful place for his friends to come

Remember Jamie and the things they’d done

The chats, the games, the laughs and tears

There were many of those to come we feared

For those not knowing the story

behind this special shelter.

The young man painted inside

was unique, ah a real belter

A lad taken away at the age of eighteen,

after a bravely fought battle, with a cruel disease.

Jamie was a City fan, a true blue kid

He knew all the squad had cost a few quid

He loved fishing, and was mad about motor bikes, Oak Road Park was where he liked,

to play, hang out and run around,

to Jamie it was like holy ground

He has family and friends in Partington

His Mum is very proud of her lovely son

When he passed away his funeral cortege

Had 100 motor bikes, there was no shortage

of people touched by his story,

gathered in Lymm for Jamies final journey

From his mum's home, to be laid to rest,

they say God only takes the very best,

so soon in life, and although it’s tragic,

Jamie Havern was a truly magic young man

And so we gather here to pay our respects

To look back on his life, a time to reflect

With Susie, family, friends and his Nan

to honour the life of this amazing young man

To release balloons and shout the name

Of Jamie Havern, no more pain

And as our excitement gathers pace

We officially open ‘Jamie’s Place’

God bless you Jamie.

Thank you.

Jamie tragically died of MND, and so young?
