The lovesong of a lonely vampire

entry picture

I hide in bushes just to see your face,

I have to watch you in your day-to-day.

I hover over you when you’re in sleep

my fingers stretch and strain to touch your skin.

It would be so simple just to take,

but I must not.

I must not drag you in.

To enslave you in this hollow hell.

My eyes are hungry and my hands are hot.

And as you pass, I sigh.

You turn and look . . .

Then you pass by.

Your kiss would be so sweet

but all my kisses have the taste of blood.

But then, perhaps eternity would be too long

to live, undead, with anyone.

This is fabulous Ann!

Love these lines...
'It would be so simple just to take,
but I must not.
I must not drag you in.
To enslave you in this hollow hell.'

Hey Ann, Cool poem. I thought it had a real Victoian flavour. It was concise but enthralling. Well read, a favourite of mine.
I don't think you are being "thick" in any way re your comments and value you taking the trouble to read and post, thanks again, Neil
