Politicians Praying. Instead of Acting
What would Jesus do?
This is a simple question
How often is it asked
By our politicians?
The Jesus that I know
Would not approve today
Australia's government siding
With schools rejecting kids who are gay
Politicians have the power to change
Without asking for help 'from above'
To me it's an excuse, just a cop-out
And nothing to do with God's love
In the US this practice is rife
Politicians for 'gun violence' victims pray!
Instead what they should really should be doing
Is standing up to their own NRA
Our Christian Prime Minister is praying
For all of our farmers in drought
Yet refuses to accept or debate
That human-induced climate change is what it's about
The Climate Change Panel has warned
The world has 12 years left (for a fact)
To avoid a calamity, and leave us all praying
While we've been wasting the time praying, to act

It's become a fact, I fear,
To chase us far away from cheer,
And keep us stressed from day to day,
So power and money can have its way.
Remember fridges and CFCs -
And tales of how they warmed the breeze,
Melting the Antarctic ice and snow?
No mention of volcanoes on the go
That occupy Earth's southern tip
And have its atmosphere in their grip.
Science is a flexible thing
And whilst we may its praises sing,
It also loves its own loud voice
And when it does, it can rejoice
At how the powerful and the wealthy
Listen closely - and (hardly stealthy)
Bang the drum and sound the alarm
About how we're doing expensive harm
And must rely on investing in science
Before we're doomed: "for strict compliance"! ?
